Jerusalem in Short
Jerusalem: the capital of the Historical Palestine is the holiest city in the world. It is important for the three monotheistic religions; Islam, Christianity and Judaism. It is important for Muslims because it is the first Qibla (the direction of Kaaba, in Mecca). Its significance stems from the fact that the prophet Muhammad visited the city during the pilgrimage, Israa and miraaj. Additionally, al-Aqsa mosque is third holiest mosque for Muslims after Mecca and Medina. Jerusalem is the place where jesus where brought up,crucified and buried and the place where many important churches found, for example, the church of resurrection and . . . etc. In Judaism Palestine is considered the promised land where they should return and Jerusalem is the place of their claimed holy temple. However, Jerusalem is the biggest city in the country where 849,782 resident live.
